Article Workflow

The policy of peer review

The corresponding author submits the manuscript to the journal. This is usually via an online portal. Occasionally, the journal may accept submissions by email. The Editorial office scrutinizes the manuscripts’ scope and format, as per the journal Author Guidelines to ensure, whether it includes the necessary components and recommended format.  The manuscript submitted for publication to International Journal of Integrative Medical Sciences (IJIMS) is Cross-checked for Similarity Index using the latest plagiarism 3rd party software. Manuscript found to be plagiarized during initial stages are out-rightly rejected and not considered for publication in the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief (EIC), confirms, whether the paper is appropriate for the journal and is satisfactorily original and interesting. If not, the paper may be rejected without being reviewed any further.  International Journal of Integrative Medical Sciences (IJIMS), processes for double-blind reviewing, where both, reviewers and authors, remain anonymous throughout the process. The peer-review is processed entirely in the International Journal of Integrative Medical Sciences (IJIMS) Editorial Management Platform, where all reviewers are registered as well. Reviewers are chosen from the Journal’s reviewers list randomly or, when necessary, according to their expertise and interest. Reviewers are suggested to evaluate the manuscript’s originality, methodology, contribution to the literature, presentation of results and support for the conclusions, and appropriate referencing of previous relevant studies. They might accept the manuscript, reject the manuscript or might require a minor or major revision for style and/or content. For the publication of papers, two positive reviews are mandatory. In case one reviewer’s report is negative while the other is positive, the paper is assigned to a third reviewer for additional evaluation.

When a revision is recommended by the reviewer or reviewers, the author(s) are obliged to proceed to make those proposed modifications to their paper, taking into consideration their specific feedback and suggestions, and then resubmit the revised version of the manuscript within a week. Revised manuscripts resubmitted after this deadline of one week will be considered as a new submission and the peer review process will start from the beginning. Reviewers may request more than one revision of a manuscript. Manuscripts, which are not accepted for publication are not resent back to their authors. To facilitate timely publication, referees are asked to complete their reviews within 15-20 days. Based on the reviewers’ feedback and the Associate Editor’s recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes a final decision on the acceptability of the manuscript, and communicates to the authors the decision, along with reviewers’ reports. The author(s) submitting a paper/s to the International Journal of Integrative Medical Sciences (IJIMS) abides and oblige to all the terms and conditions as mentioned in peer review conditions and procedures.
